Hello SJA Families,
My name is Katie Flowers. I am very excited to be a part of SJA as learning specialist. I attended National-Louis University for both a B.A. in Applied Behavioral Science and a M.A. in Teaching and I am licensed as a general education elementary teacher with middle school endorsements, an English-language learning teacher, and a learning behavior specialist. Please contact me if you have questions about individual educational plans or about how to go about getting an evaluation from either a public or a private diagnostician for school.
What does the learning specialist do?
The SJA learning specialist works with students, teachers, families, and administration to support differentiation and coordinated support in all academic areas. SJA offers its students a program designed to meet the needs of every student.
What is an ICEP?
Discrepancies in potential or achievement may indicate the need for an Individual Catholic Education Plan (ICEP). Accommodations and modifications are made to match each student’s needs and learning style. In addition to supports in the regular classroom, SJA students may receive small group and one-on-one instruction to foster growth and success.
When are you available?
I am here full time, so please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
How do we contact you?
You may reach me by phone at school at the main number, or may reach me via email at [email protected] Students or parents can find my room adjacent to the Spanish classroom on the second floor.
