Hello, SJA Families! My name is Katie Flowers. I am very excited to be a part of SJA as learning specialist. I attended National-Louis University for both a Bachelors in Applied Behavioral Science and a Masters of Arts in Teaching and I am licensed as a general-education elementary teacher with middle school endorsements, an English-language learning teacher, and a learning behavior specialist.
What does the learning specialist do?
The learning specialist works with students, teachers, families, and administration to support differentiation and coordinated support in all academic areas. I work with SJA students, in all grades, with primary goals of fostering confidence via self-advocacy and promoting opportunities for students to grow and be challenged while learning.
When are you available?
I am here full-time, so please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
How do we contact you?
You may reach me by phone at school at the main number, or may reach me via email at [email protected] Students or parents can find my room adjacent to the Spanish classroom on the second floor of the school.
I think my student(s) may require a psychoeducational evaluation – which public school district should I contact?
All students attending St. Joan of Arc School would be entitled to an evaluation by our home district, District 65, regardless of actual home address, because of where the school is located!
How do I contact District 65?
All ages, Pre-school through 8th can find a contact number here: https://www.district65.net/Page/810
