This week we study a work of narrative nonfiction called “Into the Ice.” We also learn twenty new vocabulary words in Unit 12. As usual, we started the week with a reading log. Each night the students must read at least 25 minutes and fill out a row in this log, to be turned in to me next Monday. There are two rows in the log for each day of the weekend, too. I am encouraging less graphic novels.
Wednesday- Writing: Words in Action prompt #2 on page 154 of Vocabulary Workshop, Lenten Journal Day 25 worksheet, and Close Read of “Into the Ice.”
Friday- Reading Test and Unit 12 Vocabulary test
*Reading Log due Monday 4/9
Welcome to the Ancient Rome unit! It is a fascinating ancient civilization which we see traces of in our daily life. We begin by learning this week about how influenced Rome was by the Etruscans of northern and central Italy and Greece, just across the Mediterranean Sea. We study the geography of the land as well as lesson 32. We will pick back up with lesson 33 after the ACT Aspire testing next week.
Wednesday- Latin in Alive and Well and Living in America worksheet
