St. Joan of Arc offers a 3-year-old preschool and a 4-year-old junior kindergarten program with flexible options to meet your family’s scheduling and financial needs. Students may register to attend full day (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) or half day (9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.), three to five days a week. Each early childhood classroom has a certified teacher and a teacher’s aid, and each class is capped at 20 students to ensure a low student to teacher ratio and individualized attention for each student.
SJA preschool is a developmental early childhood program that encourages play. We believe that children are natural learners and that their way of learning about their world is through play. In a safe, nurturing environment, we encourage the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child at his or her own rate. The daily schedule allows time for guided activities, free choice, and quite time. Early childhood students also participate weekly in gym, Spanish, and music classes.
In our full-day Kindergarten, every student is encouraged and expected to develop a higher order of critical thinking. The students also engage in cooperative learning throughout each day. Learning with each other and working together is involved in every activity, challenging students to achieve at high levels. The program is both academic and developmentally based. Technology is integrated in the curriculum especially in the areas of phonics, reading, and math. Kindergarten students also participate in gym, art, music, and Spanish each week.
