In first through fifth grade, the nurturing that begins in our early childhood classrooms continues and evolves with the students’ developing maturity. SJA follows the curriculum guidelines of the Archdiocese of Chicago, which incorporate elements of the Common Core state requirements in Reading and Math. Our elementary school students learn in self-contained classrooms, wherein we integrate academic learning with enrichment activities and character development to help our students grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically. In addition, students receive religious instruction and sacramental preparation and participate regularly in student-led prayer services as well as Mass. Our classrooms contain SMART boards, Overhead projectors, document cameras, online textbooks I-Pads, and Chromebooks.
